Project: Variation of order
When does a shape feels natural? That question was the starting point for my project. The amazement about how we always seems to strive towards perfect repetition, and how this merely leads to passive observations, led me to the design of several products. These products serve as tools to create new objects. Their form has a direct relationship with their function, which prevents producing perfect geometrical objects.
Thesis: Visual structures and patterns
I did research for my thesis on how we apply visual repetition from nature into our self-created environment. I focused on self-organizing structures and regular tessellation (crystals and foam). Furthermore, I studied the way we interpreter visual repetitions, where our geometric shapes comes from, and what nature and culture is. This with the aim to get more grip on my longterm fascination for structures.
